When and when not to...

Up to what extent do you help a brother out? I really think that each of us is blessed to bless someone else. It doesn't have to be materially, cause lots of times I just needed a word or two to lift me up and an answered prayer came and surprise, surprise it's what you really needed to hear. God put people in our lives for a reason and I couldn't agree more that if weren't for these people, I really don't know where I'd be. I was just talking about blessing, a co-worker just gave me a roll of tissuepaper...hehehe, no, not what you're thinking. I'm proud to say I came from a family that's considered middle class. I saw my parents work hard so that we can have 3 meals a day but I don't remember sleeping at night with an empty stomach wondering where in the world am I going to spend the night tomorrow. I don't think I've ever begged for new clothes because the last ones I got, I got 10 years ago. Reality really brought me to my knees when young men I first met at camp became my small group buddies. One would worry where he's going to get money for his tuition finding out later that that same guy's last meal was the night before and it's dinnertime. Another one's dilemma is how to get to church on time because he's still trying to figure out where to get the money for his fare, actually there's 3 of them at least with the same problem. Honestly, my immediate response is to pay for his tuition, give him money for food and transportation. But would that really help when I also have my own expense to take care of? I don't have a family yet but when that time comes how should I help? I just don't think that an encouraging word is enough in this situation. What would be the wise thing to do?
